My First Efforts, A Good Place To Start

I took my camera out for her first outing in my backyard.  I don't spend enough time back there and discovered all these blooms.  (As a side note, I got eaten up by the bugs and had to apply Cortizone for the itching. Next time, apply the repellent!)

I have a very smart camera and even though I picked the subjects,  I know it was she and not me who took these first pictures. For being a novice, I like how the pictures came out.  No doubt, the photography buffs will disagree.  Of course, I had it on auto which is a good place to start so I will blame the good and the bad for now on the camera.  I think I could be happy letting my camera do all the thinking but I do want to have some control at some point.  Otherwise, why show up at all?

In the meantime, I've started reading my "Dummies" book and I already like the author.  Her explanations are very clear and she steers away from the techie babble unless it's necessary to educate me.

So without further fanfare, here are my first efforts.  A good place to start and see how I progress.
