This Mixed Media stuff is harder than I thought........

Image
Hello Me! Am still reading Chapter two of my dummies book for my camera.  Chapter One was a real page turner!  Blah blah blah about how this does this and that does that. It was all I could do to keep from falling asleep literally face down on the page.  But, I made a commitment to read the whole book so onward I go. On the plus side I did learn how to focus by pressing halfway down on the shutter button. As my mother would say....."Woop-Di-Do". All that reading and this is what I learned????  But, that is why some of my pictures had the background blurry while the subject was very nice and sharp.  For sure,  I couldn't have done that manually.  I'd call that a win-win. Will continue to report back on my progress. My posting for today really has to do with my mixed media class. Already, lots of students are posting some of their results and I must say that some are really good and some, well, they look like hot messes but hey --- art is art. My...

My First Efforts, A Good Place To Start

Image
I took my camera out for her first outing in my backyard.  I don't spend enough time back there and discovered all these blooms.  (As a side note, I got eaten up by the bugs and had to apply Cortizone for the itching. Next time, apply the repellent!) I have a very smart camera and even though I picked the subjects,  I know it was she and not me who took these first pictures. In the meantime, I've started reading my "Dummies" book and I already like the author.  Her explanations are very clear and she steers away from the techie babble unless it's necessary to educate me. So withou...

So let's do this

I have just purchased a new camera. I want to learn about travel photography and perhaps write about my travels for publication. I am not a good writer (already obvious) but have read that anyone can learn at any age (we'll see). Confession --- I also purchased a "Dummy" book on how to take photos with my new camera. Need all the help I can get if I am ever to post any pictures. I've also been doing art journaling and mixed media for about three years and have never posted anything. Am starting a new mixed media class next month and I would like to post my progress.  This blog is about making a commitment to posting something about my experiences, good or bad and hopefully improving as time goes on.  So let's do this............ Until you cross the bridge of your insecurities, you can't begin to explore your possibilities. Tim Fargo
